How to Create a Celebrity Style Table Setting
We scoured the internet looking for visuals on how celebrities dress up their dining tables. It wasn’t as easy as we thought. We found some descriptions in an Architectural Digest article about stars sharing their table setting strategies. Zac Posen and Helena Christensen both take branches from the outside and place them on the table. Both actually use antique plates. Elizabeth Hurley likes hand-embroidered linens, some with orchids, some with hot pink lips. Nate Berkus likes to use his plates from Mexico with hand-painted details over place mats from Thailand.
We were inspired by some of these celebrities and decided to offer some advice on how to set a star-worthy table in your own home. Begin with a tablecloth and pair it up with a contrasting runner. You may choose to not include a table runner, but certainly don’t forget to use place mats. For your centerpiece, include pieces gathered from your home, such as pretty bowls or vases filled with natural flowers, or like some celebrities, pick up some branches from the outdoors. We love combining a classic piece with something unexpected, mixed up with non-matching, yet coordinated napkins and napkin rings. Finally, simple yet contrasting glassware can provide additional color and texture to create an interesting table. Finally, don’t forget the candles! Candles add ambiance to any affair.
